Kenric had to stick his head out to make sure it was raining while I was trying to take a picture of the free jar of orange jam I got last night at the Sarajevo Wine Weekend event. It’s been raining on and off all day, and right now it’s 6° Celsius (43° Fahrenheit). Brrrr!!
I have taken many photos of this Ottoman-style wooden fountain called Sebilj at Baščaršija Square, but I never posted any of them. I guess I was waiting for this one.
The understated beauty of this city is intoxicating.
It’s been raining for about 24, actually 25 hours; Bosnia And Herzegovina switched back to Standard Time at 3:00 am this morning. Kenric is happily waving. I think the cabin fever is affecting his head.
Check out this pomegranate Arna gave us. I’ve never seen this kind. The flavor is less intense than that of the deep dark red kind. To me, that’s a good thing.
The are many street vendors selling fresh-squeezed juice of the deep red kind around Old Town. They’re cheap compared to prices in the US, but it’s hard to take more than two swigs at a time. Therefore, I’m not able to take advantage of the low prices of this “nectar of the gods”.
It was very misty at Kravica Waterfall today.
We drove around Sutjeska National Park for hours, and did not see any other tourists. It was wonderful. We did get stopped by police at two different checkpoints. Both times, we were told to go after greetings. We weren’t speeding or anything. It didn’t sound like any of the policemen spoke English, so they might have told us to go simply because they didn’t want to deal with us.
It’s beginning to look a little like Christmas in Sarajevo.
