We went to The National Museum of Art of Romania in Bucharest. The building is really big, and we didn’t have time to see everything. May have to go back for other galleries and the fancy royal rooms. We only bought tickets to enter the National Gallery to see medieval and modern art.
On the medieval art floor, the collection of mostly religious art salvaged from churches seemed rather sparse, so we took our own sweet time thinking other floors would also be the same. Big mistake. It seemed sparse simply because the place is huge. We had to rush on the other two floors which had many paintings on display; some really great stuff, and some unfinished.
Check out the staircase leading up to the National Gallery. Can you feel Romania’s communist past?
