One of our major tasks is to use up the canned food in Grandma’s kitchen so that she doesn’t have to pay to move it all to Sioux Falls. Today was a successful day. We used two cans of cream of mushroom soup in Green Bean Casserole, which is one of my favorite dishes. Later, we used up three cans of kidney beans and a can of diced tomatoes in Chili. We also used up some Guinness Stout from our private collection. The recipe required that we purchase a few more cans of this and that, but we said no to buying a new bottle of Tabasco sauce and cayenne pepper.
Even without those two ingredients, the chili turned out great. A few online reviewers wrote that the recipe has won them prizes at Chili cook offs. Kenric and Grandma each had a bowl while watching The Good Doctor. I don’t like beans, but I think I’ll have some tomorrow. I asked Kenric, “On a scale of 1 to 10?” “Eighty-five thousand!”
On her way into her room, Grandma said, “Goodnight. Your Chili is real good.” Kenric just got himself another bowl!
Here’s the recipe if you’re interested. The beer we used was Guinness Stout: https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/78299/boilermaker-tailgate-chili/
