Kenric and I had plans to meet our former coworker for a Chinese New Year meal. It’s been more than two years since we worked in the same office in San Francisco. She has a new job now. Anyway, she’s heard good things about Summer Rolls Vietnamese Restaurant in Rosemead. The online reviews were convincing. She’s also ethnic Chinese from Malaysia, but hey, great Vietnamese food is suitable for all occasions. Besides, the Vietnamese are also celebrating the Lunar New Year (referred to as Tet).
Rosemead is about an hour’s drive from Redlands. Too bad my friend was still tied up with work (on a Sunday) when Kenric and I started driving. We crazy Malaysians know nothing about work-life balance. I felt a little bad for proceeding to the restaurant without her, but she’s fine with it. The food was great. We’ll have to go back with you, KKR!
We brought leftovers home. For dinner, Kenric asked Grandma to choose between leftover homemade Beef Stroganoff, and our leftover Vietnamese food. So, exactly one week shy of her 94th birthday, Grandma tried Vietnamese food for the very first time. I was surprised by her choice, but she liked it and even asked for extra fish sauce.
