Kenric told me if he hadn’t lived in San Francisco he would have lived in Seattle. I can see why. The different neighborhoods in Seattle really reminded us of our lives San Francisco. Our three days in Seattle were great.
Other than what I’ve previously mentioned, we also went on the Boeing Factory Tour in Everett, Washington. We got to see the huge factory and the planes they were working on. Sorry, visitors weren’t allowed to bring their phones or cameras with them on the tour. I also didn’t ask about the 737 MAX. I know I won’t fly in it.
We also visited the Public Market and tasted some delicious chowder and a crab roll at Pike’s Place Chowder. It was so good, we went back the following day to pick some up for my long-time college friends who we visited.
Kenric had another reunion; this time with the first friend he made in college. He hasn’t seen Amy in more than 20 years. I feel like we are on a “Hello-Again-and-Goodbye Tour”. We really enjoyed listening to Amy and her husband tell us about their two children. It’s a way of life we will never have, and we don’t even have second-hand experience. So, to see our friends enjoying parenting and truly loving and more importantly, LIKING their children is really awesome.
Before we left Seattle, Kenric brought me to Bedlam Coffee. Years ago, the owner had a coffee shop in Pullman, Washington, where Kenric went to college. Kenric and many other students hung out at the coffee shop every day. Apparently, the owner has such an eccentric personality that Kenric didn’t know if he would be punched or hugged. Unfortunately, the owner wasn’t there and we couldn’t stay for long. It’s a cool coffee shop with great coffee and lots of character. Seattle’s a progressive city that’s been kind to us, and I’m so glad we visited.
