We took the Dajti Ekspres cable car up Mount Dajti. The ride took about twenty minutes. I have never been this close to the colorful trees. At the top, there’s a hotel with a rotating bar, restaurants, a playground, and a shooting range where some guy was asking, “Shooting?”
Today, being a weekday during the off-season, the whole place was pretty quiet. We walked towards the end of the field where a horse was grazing. There were some dogs too. Tirana certainly has many stray dogs; way more than it does stray cats.
One pup was playing with the father, and it looks like the Mommy is still nursing her three pups. I poured some of the cat food I had with me for them. The Mom and the pups ate very quickly. After a while, she stepped away for her pups to eat. The Dad stayed away the entire time, but the nosy horse quickly came over to see what was going on, and started grazing just steps away. I gave them all the cat food we had, but it was obvious they were still really hungry. I told them I would bring them pizza.
We walked back across the field to a restaurant. Kenric ordered wild boar, and I ordered pasta with beef. I liked mine a lot because it reminded me of thick wonton noodles in dark soy sauce. Pizza was the right choice for the dogs because it was the cheapest item on the menu. Later, when we were almost where the dogs were hanging out, we tore the pizza into bite size pieces. Big mistake, because that attracted other dogs.
The moment Kenric set down the container of leftover beef and wild boar, the Mom and pups gorged it down. I started throwing the pieces of pizza for all of them. The two males dogs were a little aggressive with each other.
The food was gone in no time. We said goodbye, and started walking back towards the station. A few minutes later, the Mom caught up, stood around and sat down. You’re very welcome, Mama.
