Meow!!!! It’s 9:48 am. As usual, the cats were meowing at the third-floor window across the way. I fed them, and the cutie I named Kelly Koh wasn’t ready to part ways when I was closing the door. I dutifully started scratching. Look at that face!
Visiting Waxy
Yesterday, I took a cab to go check on Waxy. The vet was with someone else, but she signaled that it was OK for me to go see Waxy, and said “Everything is good!” Waxy immediately got up when she saw me and wanted to get out. She did not seem weak. I poured some treats for her, and put some water in the bowl. I told the vet I was leaving because the taxi was waiting outside. She said, “Come, we go see her.”
She operated on Waxy the night I brought her in, started the antibiotics to treat the virus, cleaned her ears, and gave the first shot of flea medication. Since Waxy had only one tooth left, and it was a very bad tooth, she pulled it. When she held Waxy up to show me her tummy, I cringed at the stitches. Waxy looked like she just wanted me to take her. I was very happy she recognized me.
Taxi Driver Shares Her Cat Pictures
Back in the cab, the driver said she also brings her cat there, and she’s very happy with the vets who are husband and wife. Hearing her endorsement and seeing the operation room considerably cleaner made me feel better. She almost started driving, but said, “Excuse me, but I must show you my cat. He’s my boy, my everything.” Her cat, Mickey, is very cute.
Scala Santa
Today, Kenric was finally well enough to go out. He went to the store for essentials; wine, water and cat food. It was raining lightly. We went back to Scala Santa where we dined our first evening in town. The waiter was surprised and happy to see us. Kenric had grilled fish, and the waiter deboned it. I told him we would like to take the fish head and bones with us.
The restaurant manager told us that Kotor always had many cats. With many more cruise ships coming the past few years, and people feeding them, there are many more cats now. He said he loves them, and they are all very good cats. After dinner, we walked to the other end of old town, and ended up giving the fish head and my leftover squid to some other cats.
Fish Bones
When we got back to our apartment I put some food out. The third-floor couple was coming home. Kelly Koh and another darker Calico were skittishly approaching the food. The one with the beautiful eyes was not there. She had eaten before we left. The couple started petting these two. I said Waxy will be back soon, and that she’s spayed. She asked how much it cost.
Pointing up at their window, I said “They always call for you.” She laughed, “Yes, they always hungry. My husband give them fish.” Her husband added a big fish head and some bones to my plate of wet-dry combo yesterday. The cats immediately focused on the fish. She said the three cats have the same mother. I pointed at Kelly Koh and asked, “Boy?” She said, “No, all girl.” Thinking of the hardships they would endure as homeless pregnant cats, my heart sank.
