Ady, our guide/driver, picked us up at 8:00 am yesterday. Our first stop was Tanah Lot which is about an hour away from our hotel in Seminyak. There were already many people there, and it was already very hot by 9:00 am. Tanah Lot literally translates to “Land Sea” (Land in the Sea), and there is a temple on this big rock (land).
During low tide, worshippers and visitors can walk all the way to the temple, but only Hindus can enter the temple. Visitors can receive water blessings near the entrance for a donation. We didn’t go over there, and I hope no one was stranded on the island. Yesterday afternoon, high tide was around 1 pm. I’ve read that the temple would appear as though it is floating in the ocean. The view was simply magnificent, just too hot.
