On the train from Belgrade, Serbia to Zagreb, Croatia, we saw quite a few big corn harvesters methodically harvesting corn in the big fields. But, there were still many cobs left strewn all over in the fields. I think people from the area go to the fields to pick these freebies up. The little red car in the picture was stuffed full of corn, very nicely and tightly packed.
Traditionally it’s called gleaning when the villagers come to gather the leftovers. The Torah/Bible speaks of the commandment to let those less fortunate glean from the corners of one’s fields. So cool to see the old ways surviving today.
Meanwhile, back in the USA
We spent most of the train ride reading about what happened in Las Vegas. We can send prayers and thoughts, donate money, and commend heroic acts as much as we want, but they will do nothing to prevent terror attacks such as this. It’s time for sensible gun control. In fact, it’s already too late.
