Uh oh. The tour guide is lost.
Yesterday (Saturday), we went to Zur Höll because of its glowing online reviews. “No reservation? Outside only, OK?”
The outdoor seating area is right next to a construction site with a big open sewer pipe. How bad could it be? Besides, there were other customers out there. Shortly after we sat down, one of the neighbors flushed. Oh my gosh……raw sewage.
We decided to stay because the server was very nice, and as Kenric put it, “When the wind is blowing in the right direction, it is fine.” Many more neighbors flushed. Why couldn’t they have just peed?
The tomato soup and the mushrooms were really good. We were considering eating there again today, with a reservation, of course. It’s either a table inside, or we’re not eating there!
After dinner, during a walking tour, we were told that Zur Höll is the oldest building in Rothenburg; more than 1,000 years old, and that Zur Höll means “To Hell”. That made us more eager to go back because we hadn’t seen the inside of the restaurant.
This morning, I finally got mister to go make an online reservation. “Closed on Sundays!” I was very disappointed. At the same time, that is good news for some of you and me. We can’t go to hell on Sundays! Party on, and have a really good Sunday!
