We drove the winding road of the Transfăgărășan Highway up the mountain. We stayed at a hotel that gave us quite a headache. First, they insisted on pre-payment via bank wire transfer. Then, they didn’t even provide hand soap. Three of the five lights in the room didn’t work; they didn’t even have lightbulbs. The water in the stand-in shower took more than 30 minutes to drain. Both the shower and the toilet leaked. The curtains fell off the track when I opened them this morning because there was nothing to stop them at the end of the track. Swoosh! Should have known it would be interesting when they gave us Room 13. But there’s a friendly cat called Mischu who prefers chicken to pork.
