Angkor Wat
We arrived in Siem Reap, Cambodia yesterday. The rainy season here started about a month ago. We went to Angkor Wat today. It was a cloudy day (still hot and stuffy), so the photos did not turn out as well as I had hoped. Here are two of the nicest I have. If the weather is nicer over the next few days, we may go back to Angkor Wat since we bought a three-day ticket that can be used over a ten-day period to visit all the temples in the area.
House Keeping
I think the hotel housekeeping crew got a little carried away welcoming Kenric.
Ta Prohm Temple
Rice Fields
We love Siem Reap. There is much more to love besides temples. The people are really nice too.
Kampong Phluk
We took a boat ride on Tonle Sap, the “Great Lake” about an hour from Siem Reap. Our driver, Haung, said that at the height of the rainy season, the water level is much higher. In really wet years, it could reach the bottom of the houses. From afar, the floating village comes with a certain romance, but life here is tough. We hope the children here can get a good education or learn marketable skills to help lift their families out of poverty.
