For our Neuschwanstein visit, we were only able to get tickets for the 6:05 German tour. It started raining once we got off the bus near the castle, but it didn’t stop us from going to the Queen Mary’s Bridge to take this photo of the beautiful castle which inspired Disney’s logo. The inside of the castle was OK, and the castle has no real historical significance.
To get back to the hotel, we would have had to take two busses. We decided to walk down halfway because the line for the first bus would be too long. When we got to where we would board the second bus, we were late for the 7:35 bus by five minutes.
We decided to walk another 45 minutes along the Romantische Strasse (Romantic Road) back to the hotel, instead of waiting for the 8:10 bus because we would have reached the hotel by then. A few minutes in, the 7:35 bus passed us. It was actually late!
Then, we started seeing slugs every few feet on the paved trail. They were usually more spread out than those in the picture. I was so afraid I would accidentally step on one. Then, a field mouse tried to cross the trail, but turned around because I yelped. Kenric stopped to take pictures of two frogs.
At 8:08, the 8:10 bus was already passing us at the bottom of the hill! So, for about 90 minutes, we had bad luck with the busses; shared the Romantische Strasse with thousands of slugs, two frogs, one snail, one mouse; and avoided stepping in cow dung or getting struck by lightning.
Romantische? Maybe a little. Stressor? Plenty. Thanks for sharing the trail with us, you Creepy Crawlies!
