Another evening, another good meal with an old friend. Twenty four years later, she still has the same laugh and I think I do too because we laughed in unison just like the days at Sunway College in Kuala Lumpur. Hahahaha! Even our tops matched!
My Mini-Me is now a caring oncologist. Needless to say, our dinner conversation also included topics like the fragility of life, the importance of cancer screening, why some patients delay treatment, health insurance and the state of things in America.
We also wondered what our angelic friend saw in her boyfriend at that time. We also agreed that even though my then-roommate passed away too young and too suddenly a few years ago, she lived her life to the fullest and by her own rules including staying out all night gambling at mahjong parlors at the ripe old age of 19! Here’s to you, JK, wherever you may be.
Kenric and I suggested Luang Prabang, Laos the next time she wants a long weekend of R&R. Only a long weekend because she can’t leave her patients for too long. Don’t forget to have some mini me-time, Doctor; unless you really are what Kenric just nicknamed you – oncallogist, but he’s sure you’ve heard that a thousand times. Hugs and see you again soon!
