“The weather is supposed to be sunny tomorrow. We go walk around the lake?” Knowing how big the lake is and how much it snowed recently, I wasn’t too excited about walking the entire loop, but since Kenric had suggested it twice, I agreed. We’ll first take a short boat ride to visit the church (The Pilgrimage Church of the Assumption of Maria) on the island, and start walking around the lake when we return.
Going for a Walk
The clouds were already coming in by 11:00 am. It would take us about 30 minutes just to walk to the boat place, so I suggested we drive there to save our time and energy for walking around the lake. I could tell he didn’t like the idea. There was actually no designated place to park near the boat place. Kenric said he would just drive back to the apartment and park the car. I remember seeing a big parking lot down the road the other day, so I asked, “Why can’t we just park at the parking lot further down?”
“Because I wanted to walk around back there.”
“You just want to walk around in that little area? You said you want to walk around the lake.”
“Yes! Walk around and take the boat ride from there.”
“Walk around the lake means walk AROUND the lake! The whole lake. The whole loop!”
“No, just walking around.”
“When you said ‘walk around’, I thought you wanted to walk the whole loop.”
“No.”
Anyway, we parked at the lot further down and “walked around” to the boat place. It was too cloudy and too late to take the boat ride. We’ll do it tomorrow before we leave town. We ate at the restaurant across from it, and walked for a little over an hour (including lots of photo-taking time) back to the car. I kept thinking I would fall because the trail was only dimly lit, and many parts were slippery.
Making Landfall
Our car was the only one left in the parking lot. I told Kenric I would wait for him across the street to avoid the icy slush in the lot. He said okay and started crossing the street. Realizing it would be more convenient for him to pick me up if I was also across the street, I started walking towards him, flying in the air and falling on my butt. “Oh shit!”, Kenric yelled as he ran to help me up. I survived the dark trail only to fall on a well-lit street.
Had the boyfriend used “walk around” correctly, I wouldn’t have asked him to drive, and Caren wouldn’t have made landfall at 6:21 pm. How do I know what time it was? The camera was on, and it snapped a photo. I’m okay, but my palm #Bled a little. Kenric did NOT get a new hat. #Day180
