Good morning from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This time, we’re staying in Bukit Bintang. It’s only about a 20-minute walk from where we stayed three weeks ago near Petaling Street. The difference between the two KLs is stark, and I’m sure there are places further down their ends of the spectrum.
Here’s a song I sang to myself quite often over the years “Kuala Lumpur Oh Kuala Lumpur”. It’s about someone who came to this big city from a small village trying to make a better life; about how the city is full challenges and also of hope and dreams; about how Kuala Lumpur shines on (brightens up) his life. The only part of the lyrics I don’t agree with is the claim that there is no difference between the rich and the poor.
There are newer videos of this song, but I like the old photographs in the montage. https://youtu.be/LSoOqomTtxo
