Kenric and I miss Kotor, Montenegro every day. We miss “our” cats, our friends, the food, the stunning beauty of Kotor Bay, and we miss working on our volunteer Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) project with Kotor Kitties. We even miss the winter rain!
Between November 2019 and late February 2020, we spent about 70 days in Kotor trapping homeless cats for spaying and neutering. There were some low points, but to be able to help Danijela and other feeders/rescuers, and prevent innocent kittens from being born just to die within days or weeks made it all worth it.
We were supposed to return to Kotor in May to do more TNR because there is much, much more to be done in Kotor and all over Montenegro, and because we were only a few short of our goal of 100 cats. Yet, 2020 had other plans.
As November 2020 rolled around, we reminisced even more about our time in Kotor. Allow us to show you Kotor and the rewarding work through this video.
A big thank-you to Sofia Ivana De France for helping us with the translation. We hope Kotor can feel our love, and see the love so many have for the cats. With food, love, and sterilization, these cats will be the best welcome committee when tourists return to this magical place we love so much.
We hope you will donate towards the cats’ food and sterilization. If you are in Montenegro, please consider volunteering with Kotor Kitties.
Kenric and I are thankful that we were able to make ourselves useful before everything came to a halt. Happy Thanksgiving.
