Some of you have requested the KFC Cole Slaw recipe so, by very popular demand, here it is!
KFC Cole Slaw
From “Top Secret Recipes” by Todd Wilbur
- very finely chopped cabbage (1 head)
- of shredded carrot (1 medium carrot)
- granulated sugar
- salt
- pepper
- milk
- mayonnaise
- buttermilk
- white vinegar
- lemon juice
- of finely chopped onion (optional per Grandma)
- “Some” finely chopped bell pepper (any color) (optional per Grandma)
Be sure that the cabbage and carrots are chopped up into very fine pieces (about the size of rice kernels).
– We used a cheese grater instead of chopping with a knife.
Combine the sugar, salt, pepper, milk, mayonnaise, buttermilk, vinegar, and lemon juice, and beat until smooth.
– We used a whisk instead of an electric beater.
Add the cabbage and carrots. Mix well. Include the onion and bell peppers if you decide to add the optional items.
Cover and refrigerate for at least two hours before serving.
The critical part of this cole slaw recipe is the flavor-enhancement period prior to eating. Be absolutely certain the cole slaw sits in the refrigerator for at least a couple of hours prior to serving for a great-tasting slew of slaw.
