Late last night, I sent Danijela an update of the GoFundMe campaign. I told her a few of my friends have committed to donating but haven’t done so yet, others have mentioned they spent too much on Christmas and couldn’t donate, and that we probably won’t reach the $2,500 goal. She gave it a thumbs down. I thought her thumbs down meant she was disappointed, but I quickly realized she didn’t even know I was raising the money for the cats she cares for. She must have given the thumbs down because she thought I was seeking sympathy. She reread the original post, and was very pleasantly surprised.
Kenric and I want to thank everyone who donated, allowing us to lift Danijela’s spirit. You should feel very appreciated. If you’ve committed to donating, we look forward to it, and as mentioned, we will match your donation amount, doubling your gift. Thank you for your financial contribution, and more importantly, the emotional support.
We know caring for homeless cats or supporting such a cause is not everyone’s cup of tea, but someone like Danijela who has been doing it for more than 20 years because as she put it, “… but I can’t ignore them. They need help.” certainly deserves some financial relief while she works on finding a new location to reestablish her 26-year-old business.
So, whether you donated because I twisted your arm, or because you are a cat lover, or because you sympathize with the predicament Danijela and the cats are in, trust that I will work to make it worth your while, if I haven’t already.
These before-and-after photos are of Mickey who had his broken leg amputated by the overworked vet, Dr. Relja, about two weeks ago. The second photo shows him and another cat in Danijela’s home yesterday. She wrote, “Even with 3 legs Mickey is normal like other cats.”
