I’m glad I finally got to visit Gua Tempurung in Gopeng about 40 minutes from Ipoh. We did the longer dry trail that should have taken only about an hour. There were quite a few long and somewhat steep metal staircases along the nicely paved cement walkway. I don’t know how many steps we took because my mother and my niece lost count.
The huge cavern is well-lit compared to some others we’ve visited. I’m pleasantly surprised that photography is allowed. There were at least two large groups that did the four-hour wet loop with parts of the trail being in the river; some parts chest deep. Towards the end of the trail, they stopped and did a head-count in a very shallow part of the river. The second group’s count went up to at least tiga puluh enam (36). Their excited cheers and laughter echoed throughout the cavern. Kenric wants to return to do that loop.
