Some of you might be wondering if I’m really on this trip. Yes, I am. From this photo, it looks like I’m even having a food time! Food makes me happy, and Vietnamese food that is rather authentic in Prague makes me very giddy.
It started raining at 7:00 a.m., and we only had bread to eat for breakfast. When it finally stopped raining around 5:00 p.m., I was too lazy to go out. But, Erickson knew how to motivate me, and started reading off the Yelp reviews of this place, Vietnamese Home Cooking.
I’m glad he did because we were starving. Beef pho, chicken pho, beef fried noodle, spring roll, two beers and a bag of shrimp chips for 490 CZK (Czech Koruna / Czech Crowns). That’s USD $22.14. The portions are smaller, but still a very good deal especially compared to San Francisco prices.
Brad Pizza
I got my Asian food fix, and Kenric had pizza for the third time since leaving San Francisco. That’s his American food fix. The chef on the box for his leftover pizza looks like Brad Pitt from a certain angle. I named him Brad Pizza. You have no idea for how long I cracked myself up with that.
Our Last Night in Prague
This is our last night in Prague. We went to Mlejnice, a Czech restaurant for dinner. Beer, cabbage soup, grilled pork tenderloin, and potatoes with leek, bacon, mushrooms topped with cheese and baked. The cabbage soup was especially good. I like ordering beer here. I only have to tell them light or dark, and small or large. “A large light beer, please!”
After dinner, we finally tried this pastry that invites a long line no matter which stall or store you go to. It’s called Trdelník; a long strip of dough wrapped around a metal stick and grilled over charcoal; sprinkled with sugar and almond/walnut. It’s almost like the texture of a donut, but crunchy on the outside. We filled ours with Nutella. Choices include ice-cream, jam, chocolate sauce, strawberry and cream, etc. It’s really quite good. Glad we didn’t try it until our last night!
