After more than 400 years of Ottoman rule, Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) fell under Austro-Hungarian rule in 1878. While the Austro-Hungarian Empire ceased to exist by 1918 at the end of World War One, a war it declared, its architecture lives on in parts of Sarajevo. Although most of the buildings are now a less-glorious version of their former selves, we still find them incredibly beautiful, their facades anyway.
