We packed fourteen days’ worth of clothes, but half of them are for winter. So, we pretty much have to do laundry every week. Beginning in Prague (August 5th) we switched from hotels to Airbnb, and our most important criterion is a washing machine.
We have yet to encounter a place that has a dryer, so the Bounce dryer sheets that we brought are just dead weight. The washing machines spin out as much water as possible, but the clothes are still pretty wet. It’s always a challenge to try to decipher the control panel. It seems different brands have different icons, and the manual (if available) often does not include English.
When I opened the washer yesterday, I immediately gave up and asked Kenric to figure out that contraption. He did, but the machine’s capacity is only 6 kg (13.2 lbs). So, this is our third load.
There was a storm this afternoon. One of the neighbors didn’t take their clothes in. I was reminded of the times when the ladies who lived on the street I lived on would immediately turn all their mahjong tiles face down, and run home to take their clothes in whenever it started to drizzle.
We would have taken the clothes in had we known where to deliver them. That would have given us a chance to know the neighbors, preferably not the couple that starts screaming around 4:00 am. They seem to have a laundry list of complaints against each other.
