It’s our third night in Sarajevo. Before this, we spent five nights in Kotor, Montenegro. Last fall in Kotor, I fell in love with a cat I named Waxy and her friends….

Cats of the World
Cats of the World started out as just cats (particularly abandoned cats, homeless cats, street cats, stray cats, alley cats, community cats, wild cats, and feral cats), but this section soon evolved to include other animals we encounter in our travels, including dogs, and even elephants. We pay particular attention to those animals in need of care and compassion.
There will never ever be enough homes for cats and dogs. Strays will continue to be culled as they have been in Australia, Malaysia, and many other countries. It’s the same vicious cycle – population explosion, mass poisoning/shooting, ignore, repeat. Kenric and I support Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) programs for the animals but also for the feeders/rescuers. It’s a huge financial, emotional and time burden on the people that care for stray and abandoned animals. TNR may seem strange, almost abusive to the animals, but it helps them and their feeders!

Elephant Nature Park
We had been looking for a place to visit elephants but we didn’t want to go to those that offer elephant riding. Just when I thought we would leave Chiang Mai without…

The night market at Jonker Walk is open only on Fridays and Saturdays. There are lots of stalls selling delicious street food as well as other things.
A Macha Haircut and Congee
I often see this congee featured on Ipoh food-related Facebook pages – especially when topped with crispy fried pork intestines. How offal can it be?
Returning to the Market, to Work
This morning, I went to the market to help out in my family’s coffee stall. I only worked a five-hour shift, but once I got home I had to take a nap.
