I’m staring at our feet as Kenric sleeps on the night train. Why? About 1.5 hours ago, he told me the alarm would go off very soon. I finally dragged myself up, but it was only 4:23 am. The train is supposed to arrive in Belgrade, Serbia at around 7:30 am. I asked why he woke me up so early. His only conclusion was he was sleep talking. He fell right back to sleep.
I was already startled once when a soldier came to check our passports at around 2:00 am, so I’m wide awake now. On top of that, the train is one hour behind schedule, so I’m actually up four hours too early instead of just three.
At 10:30 am, we’ll take another 10-plus-hour train ride from Belgrade to Ljubljana, Slovenia.
