Yesterday was a busy day for Kenric and me. We started the day frantically sorting and packing. (We are still not done.) Then, we drove to San Francisco and met a former coworker for coffee. Kenric and I worked for the same company – he for about 16 years and I for about 12. After that, we drove around town, and along Fell Street and waved to our old house.
Downtown San Francisco and the Financial District where we used to work felt very different. The Salesforce Tower, the second tallest building west of the Mississippi River exacerbated the alienation we felt from this city we loved so much. At 1,070 feet (326 m), the 61-floor building forever changed the San Francisco skyline. I couldn’t get a good photo of the tower yet it was fine by me.
Then, we met up with our former bosses and their spouses for dinner at Le Colonial. It’s a great restaurant and the food was especially amazing yesterday. The company (no pun intended) was so great that I completely forgot to take even one photo. The four of them are really happy that Kenric and I are on this crazy adventure. It came across as odd for Steve that after 1.5 years of intense traveling to 30+ countries, we choose to go back to Albania.
Sullivan and Steve, thank you for the wonderful dinner, the autonomy we enjoyed professionally, and the long working relationships including all the ups and downs. We wouldn’t trade it for anything. Until next time, we wish you good health and crazy adventures of your own.
