The weather forecast warned of thunderstorms, high winds and flying debris(!!!) all day long, so we decided not to take a day trip to Ston, about an-hour bus ride away. Of course, it stopped raining by 9:30 am.
We visited Fort Lovrijenac (St. Lawrence Fortress) right outside the Old Town. It was great to be able to see the Old Town surrounded by its walls on such a clear day. Looking at the photos, you might think I cleaned my camera lens, but it was just a good overnight downpour.
Reset to factory condition
The best part of the day was receiving an update about Tiga (3 in the Malay language), who now goes by “Pat” for Empat (4 in Malay) from Dr. Luiza Hyka. I initially named the poor homeless doggie Tiga because I thought he would be left with three legs. Luckily, he still has all empat legs. Not only was it not amputated, his frighteningly swollen and infected paw is healing nicely. He pooped a two-foot long tapeworm (no joke, we have photos) after being given the deworming pill. He’s being treated for Ehrlichiosis which caused his anemia, and he’s looking very dapper with an Elizabethan collar. This eight-month old puppy is almost reset to his original factory condition. I hope he finds a loving home soon.
Kenric and I also want to thank Dr. Hyka who has been really gracious with us. Other than the first cash payment we made while we were there, none of our PayPal transfers have gone through. We’ve never Paypal’d anyone in Albania and can’t figure out why our transfers are being withheld, for more than 20 days now. Dr. Hyka did not refuse treatment, she did not hound us and she is being very patient; both puns intended. Maybe Kenric and I will go to Fier and pay with cash when we’re back in Berat. I wonder if Empat/Tiga will remember us dua humans.
